Something For Everyone !

Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors. Hi all, my name is Clive Mitchelhill I am a fully qualified and full time Game Angling Instructor living in Cumbria. I am an active member of the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors, (AAPGAI) and consider it an honour to be part of their assessment team for both the Single Handed and Double Handed casting disciplines at all levels. I also hold all of the International Federation of Fly Fishers casting qualifications at all levels, (now known as Fly Fishers International) and I am fully licensed and insured, CRB checked, (Criminal Record Bureau) and trained in both child protection and first aid. I offer a wide range of services which include fly casting and fly fishing tuition in and around Cumbria and the Lake district, and especially on the very productive River Eden. I specialize in all casting techniques including the very popular Spey Casting styles, a series of casts that are essential learning for the river angler, as this will open up a whole new range of fishing opportunities that you never thought possible with both Double Handed Salmon rods and single handed Trout rods. I also cater for the Stillwater angler, and will cover a variety of casts including the Double Haul technique, which allows you to cast great distances to those fish that are always just out of reach.

This is me:

Hope I haven't scared you off already.

OVER 40 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN GAME ANGLING

A.A.P.G.A.I. WorkshopOne of the many workshops held by our organisation, to help us ensure that we continue to provide some of the best quality tuition currently available. You will see many of our members at the major Game Fairs and shows delivering many of the casting demonstrations, why not come along and visit us, we will be more than happy to help.

The Snake Roll (one of the many Spey casting techniques, and a very useful cast to have in your armoury)

I am a great believer that the Snake Roll cast is definitely a cast to add to your fishing armoury. Unfortunately this cast has had some bad press in the past, and has been labeled as a fancy platform cast, but believe me when I tell you that it is a very useful fishing cast that allows you to deliver a fly to a running fish very quickly, (and as you know running fish are not the best of takers). So by being able to place the fly into a new position, and into the fishes field of vision very quickly you are offering yourself an additional opportunity to make contact with a fish that would generally be gone in an instant. Also, (and you can see this for yourself) this cast will cause much less disturbance on the water than you will get when executing a Double Spey (fact). This is not a difficult cast to learn, and it is well worth doing so.

Talk to us at the Game Fairs, and let us know how we can help youYou will see my colleagues and I at some of the Game Fairs and Country Shows again this year, so please feel free to come and have a chat. We will be happy to tell you about our joint venture that is The Complete Angling Experience and answer any questions you may have regarding your own personal requirements.

For many years one of my main stream objectives within the sport of angling has been the Introduction of youngsters to all of the benefits it provides and to hopefully impress upon them the importance of the environment in which we all live, and because of this I was, for many years, involved with an organisation, set up by me and my colleagues, known as Borderlines. One of the objectives of Borderlines was to bring many more youngsters into the sport of angling at no cost whatsoever to themselves. This proved to be very successful over many years, and the feedback from the schools and other organisations we were involved with, has been fantastic. Our Borderlines project has now ended, but hopefully our legacy will continue via the Nith district fishery board who were instrumental in the continuation of this passion in the latter years of Borderlines. Keep up the good work guys!
