The Overhead Cast
Step 1

Step 1.

The first stage of this particular analogy, is a simple circle. You will notice that set around this circle are markers like those you would find around a clock face, these are there, just to remind you of the positions that you will be sending the rod tip to, when executing the cast.

When you are at the water prior to casting, imagine that you are standing inside this circle at the six o'clock mark, with the optimum amount of line out on the water, and the rod tip just above the water surface. You are now able to begin the back cast.

Remember the clock positions are just there as a guide, as right and left handed casters may see this clock from a different perspective. This is something I will elaborate on more as we cover some of the other casts.
